Hello lovely Brides and Grooms!
So after becoming a preferred supplier for Hampton Court Palace weddings, I was approached by one of the wedding planner/organisers there who happened to be getting married August 2014. She wanted to know if I would be able to photograph her ceremony which was going to take place in the Little Banqueting House, shots around the palace and the reception in the Garden Room. How could I say no….(luckily I was free!). The bride is Charlie and the groom, Daniel. Both are amazing people. They have two children, a cute (but cheeky!) little boy and an adorable little girl – see if you can spot them in the shots below….
As always, I arrived early to capture those shots of the groom getting prepared, enjoying the last moments of ‘singledom’ with his friends, and, in this case, having a sly beer! Daniel was really relaxed, which is great to see, and is actually often what happens on the day. There is still an interesting difference in the photos that happen before the ceremony and after it – I love capturing those before and after emotions on the faces of the bride and groom!
I shot guests and family arriving at the Little Banqueting House, which is a truly beautiful building/room that holds 50 guests for the ceremony. You can see the history pouring from the walls in the photos below….
Then I met with Charlie as she walked along the river towards the ceremony room. She had decided on a beautiful short wedding dress which looks incredible in the photos and suits her personality so well. She also had her daughter by her side and her dad, creating the perfect picture.
Shooting the ceremony and the couple shots around the palace was an absolute pleasure. Obviously as Charlie works at Hampton Court Palace, she knew the grounds inside-out but was still happy to be guided by me on the best backdrops for the photos. They were both really natural in the photos, which again, is often the case because the way I work means that you just have to BE YOURSELF, and I’ll capture the true ‘you’.
After the couple shots we headed back to the Garden Room for the rest of the reception, with a fantastic buffet style bbq, ‘hundreds’ of children (!), speeches, dancing and MAGIC!! – The magician was the incredible JAMIE RAVEN – one of the best close-up performers out there and I made sure that I was there to capture those ‘how on earth did he do THAT’ moments!
They didn’t need me to capture the first dance so as the sun was heading south I packed up and went home for a whisky! Ready to edit a shot for social media very early the next day…….I hope you enjoy the photos below, I absolutely loved this wedding……
